The greatest accomplishment for me is the love I receive from the people of Karnataka: Anu Prabhakar
Anu Prabhakar, celebrating 25 years in the entertainment industry, reflects on her journey and the changes she has witnessed. Recalling her debut in "Hrudaya Hrudaya," she shares how the milestone realization took time to sink in. She fondly remembers her early days on set, feeling a strong passion for acting that she knew would shape her future. Despite working in various languages, she is grateful for the enduring love and recognition she receives from Kannadigas, who still hold a special place for her as a Kannada actress. Anu also observes the advancements in Kannada cinema, particularly in technology, noting the significant progress that has enabled the creation of more complex and visually stunning films compared to earlier times. In the digital age, one aspect I miss is the sense of camaraderie on sets in the past. Presently, I notice that people on sets tend to be more distant. Previously, the set felt like a close-knit family; I recall lunch breaks spent together under a tree at the shoot location. There were no trailers, and even Shivarajkumar would personally serve food. Back then, there was a clear distinction between commercial and art house cinema. Some films were specifically crafted for awards. Nowadays, there's a positive shift where movies are both realistic and commercially successful, reflecting equal dedication across genres. I am grateful for the love and appreciation I receive for the roles I've portrayed. It's truly a blessing to be remembered for my work.
Anu Prabhakar expresses a desire for more substantial roles for women in films. She admires the performances of past stars like Bharathi and Aarthi, who had significant characters allowing them to showcase their talents. Anu hopes for a change where female roles focus more on character depth rather than just glamour. She credits filmmakers for offering her challenging roles, leading to more opportunities. Anu is conscious about not portraying characters beyond her age, as she believes it can typecast actors. She also acknowledges her husband, Raghu, as a great source of support. The only time she took a break from work was after the birth of their daughter, Nandana. Raghu has always been there to encourage her to pursue her passion for acting. He has been a dear friend and partner to me in the world of art. As parents, we coordinate our schedules to ensure that one of us is always home for Nandana. Additionally, we rely on the support of both our mothers, who play a crucial role in helping us raise our daughter and bring peace to our lives.
